US Senator Michael Bennet of Colorado spoke to a packed room of Kamala Harris supporters in Nashua this week, where he emphasized the critical importance of the upcoming election and the stark policy choices facing voters
Speaking at a canvass launch event, Bennet praised the work of local organizers and young volunteers, thanking them for “showing up for this democracy when it needed you most.” He argued that this election represents one of the most consequential in recent history, with a clear divide between the parties on key issues.
Bennet highlighted his own background as a former superintendent of Denver Public Schools, saying it was this experience that motivated his push for an expanded child tax credit. He noted that this policy, enacted under the Biden administration, had cut childhood poverty in the U.S. by half.

In contrast, Bennet criticized Republican candidates who he said were focused solely on cutting taxes for the wealthy, arguing this represented a failed trickle-down economic approach.
“You want to see a threat to our democracy. A threat to any democracy is one where people don’t think they’ve got economic opportunity for themselves and for their families,” Bennet said. “Donald Trump doesn’t care about any of that, and I can assure you, JD Vance cares even less.”
Bennet also took aim at the role of the Freedom Caucus and “Trumpism” in undermining bipartisan efforts on issues like immigration reform and border security.
Maggie Goodlander, Democratic candidate for the 2nd congressional district was also on hand for the event and said the stakes of the 2024 election were the highest they’ve ever been.
“I say that it’s the most important election in human history because our freedoms are on the line. Fairness is on the line. I’m running against an opponent who would end Social Security as we know it, who would gut Medicare and who embraces Project 2025 in all of its extremism,” Goodlander said.
