In a unanimous decision, the New Hampshire pledged delegates to the Democratic National Convention have thrown their support behind Vice President Kamala Harris to become the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. This endorsement follows President Joe Biden’s announcement to pass the baton to a new generation of leadership over the weekend.
During a meeting held Sunday, New Hampshire’s 25 pledged delegates collectively voiced their support through a formal statement. “With President Biden stepping aside, he showcases not only immense selflessness but also a forward-thinking patriotism that primes our party and our country for progressive strides ahead,” the statement read.
The delegates praised Biden for his historic tenure, characterizing his administration as one of the most successful in U.S. history and lauding his lifelong commitment to public service. They expressed profound gratitude towards President Biden and endorsed Vice President Harris, reflecting the overwhelming support she received during the 2024 New Hampshire Presidential Primary.
“Vice President Kamala Harris is not only phenomenally qualified, having served as a prosecutor, California’s Attorney General, a U.S. Senator, and Vice President, but she is also a trailblazer determined to continue her dedicated service to our nation,” the delegates said in their statement.
The endorsement is seen as a critical step in consolidating Democratic support as Harris prepares to contend against the Trump-Vance ticket and their outlined Project 2025 agenda. New Hampshire Democrats are gearing up for a rigorous campaign period leading up to the National Convention in August and the subsequent presidential election.
The list of signatories includes a diverse group of district-level delegates, party leaders, and elected officials, such as Alderman Bill Barry, State Representative Angela Brennan, and former State Senator Melanie Levesque. The New Hampshire Democratic Party (NHDP) emphasized the diversity of its delegation, which includes representatives across various demographics, including youth, LGBTQ+, and several racial and ethnic groups.
The list also includes Carlos Cardona, former Campaign Manager to Marianne Williamson and State Senate candidate. This comes after Williamson expressed interest in challenging Harris’ nomination.
